BA JOHNSTON // WE ARE NOT A CULT // MR AWESOME

BA JOHNSTON (Hamilton, ON)

BA Johnston is your deep fryer daddy, the chairman of cheeseburgers, the Stompin’ Tom Connors of a new era. He’s shirtless and self-deprecating, and as virile as Gremlins in water. Armed with an acoustic guitar and backed by the technological genius of his Discman, he’s as punk as they come. With abrupt honesty, B.A. will serenade you from the back seat to the gutter.

WE ARE NOT A CULT (Penticton, BC)

We Are Not A Cult are a punk rock party band making waves throughout the scene with their loud, brash, and original sound. They pull from a wide range of influences including skate punk, hardcore, and straight up rock n' roll. Their energetic live shows always convert new fans, so come see why they're your favourite bands, favourite band.

MR AWESOME (Stud Blvd, BC)

Mr Awesome is a song and dance man from Stud Blvd. He’s also really nice and kinda sweats a lot. Usually performs under heavy duress. Doesn’t know what duress means. Tom Cochrane was at his last show (seriously) and he gave Mr Cochrane his beer tickets. Has shared the stage with almost everyone in the music industry except the big four. Has albums out on all streaming platforms and on vinyl. Also has Mr Awesome Pogs for sale.

K-MAN & THE 45S // DANY LAJ AND THE LOOKS // LUSH RUSTY

K-MAN & THE 45s, where Ska meets Rock and Roll. One of Canada’s most well-known and loved Ska bands. Their relentless touring and hyper active live shows keep turning heads.

Their critically acclaimed Self-Titled album came out in 2016 and there’s been no slowing down since (barring the pandemic blip).

Fan favourite songs such as I Don’t Mind and Space Thriller cemented them in the scene while festival plays and relentless touring brought them to the four corners of the globe playing alongside greats like the Voodoo Glow Skulls, The Planet Smashers, The Original Wailers, Big D and The Kids Table, The Slackers levelled up their fanbase and live show.

Festivals, Canadian, US and European tours are all booked and K-Man & The 45s keep moving!

Dany Laj’s heartfelt songs seamlessly blend rock, folk and country elements, without straying too far from the power-pop roots that give the melodies a certain joie de vivre. Sidekicks Dany Laj and Jeanette Dowling are known for their extensive touring schedules and electrifying live shows. Impressively, the band has played over 1000 shows all through North America.

With stories of finding love, cross-country tours, and broken-down vehicles, this album ultimately retains a strong sense of humour and hope, which lies within memorably catchy hooks and intertwining harmonies between Laj and bassist Jeanette Dowling. Dowling and drummer Dusty Campbell as The Looks, Laj’s crack rhythm section, provide a rock-solid foundation and perfect complement to Laj’s quirky pop sensibilities, rendering DANNY LAJ AND THE LOOKS an unstoppable force just waiting to win your heart.

LUSH RUSTY punk rock from the K-Hole.
